West Bromwich Albion will host Fulham FC at the Hawthorns this Tuesday in what will be the first Premier League match of 2013.
Both the teams have dropped their last encounters, with the Baggies losing 2-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, while Fulham getting bested 2-1 at home by Swansea City. But the more important fact is that before their defeat to the Red Devils, WBA were on a three match unbeaten run. Even though that streak came against the likes of QPR, Norwich City and West Ham only, it shows that coach Steve Clarke’s men have been getting results of late.
Fulham, on the other hand, have won just one of their last 12 Premier League encounters, and despite the fact that they have sometimes been unlucky with results, it is pretty clear that results aren’t going their way at all. The Cottagers are the most out-of-form team in the league at the moment, having conceded 13 and scored just five goals in their last six games.
However, Fulham’s woeful form is exactly why the bookmakers have installed them as bigger underdogs than usual, and so here is an opportunity that can be exploited by smart handicappers. Truth is that the Londoners have several quality players such as Dimitar Berbatov, Bryan Ruiz and Brede Hangeland in their ranks and their bad patch has to get over sooner rather than later. Therefore, backing them with Paddy Power’s DrawNoBet option at odds of 2.75 could be a smart play in this one.
