The last fixture of the Primera Division before the international break will see Barcelona visit the Mestalla Stadium to face Valencia on Sunday.
Barcelona have won both of their opening two league games and sit on top of the points table, thanks to their superior goal difference courtesy of their 7-0 thrashing of Levante on Matchday 1. They were made to work hard for the subsequent 1-0 defeat of Malaga though.
In addition to that game at La Rosaleda, the Catalans were far from convincing in their two-legged win over Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup. They did lift that trophy but only on the away goal rule. Hence, it is there for all to see that this Spanish juggernaut has yet to fully fire on all cylinders.
Valencia’s start to the new season has been even more underwhelming. They beat Malaga 1-0 at home on the opening day but lost 3-1 to Espanyol away from home on Matchday 2. Their troubles aren’t surprising though as they sold their goal-machine Roberto Soldado this summer.
Los Che manager Miroslav Djukic has a clean bill of health, but his counterpart Gerardo Martino will have to do without the services of Carles Puyol, Ibrahim Afellay and Issac Cuenca.
It is about time Barcelona rip apart a big team. The play here is to back Barcelona -1 goal with Pinnacle Sports at a return of 1.97.
