The Barclays Premier League’s bottom boys Queen Park Rangers are scheduled to welcome defending champions Manchester City at Loftus Road this Tuesday in what is expected to be a very tough game for them.
The R’s season went from bad to worse over the weekend when they were dumped out of the FA Cup by League One minnows MK Dons on their own turf by a humiliating margin of 4-2.
But it must be noted that their manager Harry Redknapp had fielded a significantly weakened side in that game and it was pretty clear that he had decided to get rid of the cup distraction so his players could focus solely on the job of retaining their PL status.
Out will go the likes of Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell and they will be replaced by quality regulars such as Loic Remy and star winger Adel Taarabt.
Manchester City were dealt a major injury blow on Saturday in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Stoke City when they lost their captain Vincent Kompany due to a knee problem. It will be interesting to see how City manage without their talisman who is probably their most important player these days.
While there is a major gulf in class of both the teams and everything suggests that City would shred QPR into pieces, the truth is that the Rangers usually make it very difficult for top sides to play their natural game at their own ground. A side like Roberto Mancini’s that lacks quality wingers and relies on central midfielders for creativity wouldn’t prosper in this fixture if Redknapp’s men make the pitch congested in the middle.
The safest play for this fixture is to back Pinnacle Sports’ Asian Handicap offer of QPR +1 goal at odds of 2.11.
