In Friday’s second-last round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Netherlands will play host to Hungary at the Amsterdam ArenA.

The Oranje have been brilliant in the qualifying campaign, winning seven of their eight matches and currently topping Group D with 22 points. The second-placed Hungary are a massive eight points behind them, which means this gap can’t be covered in the remaining two games, and so the Netherlands’ place in the finals next year is booked.

Turkey are just a point behind Hungary in third place, so this game means a lot to the Hungarians. The Turks have a relatively easy away game against Estonia. Any slip up here for Hungary could put their place at the World Cup in jeopardy.

Since this game effectively is a dead rubber for the Netherlands, their coach Louis van Gaal has selected a few new faces to experiment with. The inclusion of newcomers such as Memphis Depay, Leroy Fer, Paul Verhaegh and Jasper Cillessen may have lessened the overall strength of the side, but it also adds some hunger to do well, which otherwise might have been lacking due to the game having no impact.

The Dutch defence in particular is extremely inexperienced and could have a bit of difficulty. But the rest of the areas of their squad still has a lot of quality to see of Hungary with ease. The recommended bet here is to back the Netherlands -1 goal with Pinnacle Sports at odds of 1.60.
