Malmo MM will be awaiting the visit of Gefle IF at their Swedbank Stadion this Sunday as part of their 2013 Allsvenskan season’s Round 15 obligations.
The hosts have 26 points after the first 14 matches of the season, and that tally is good enough for them to hold the fourth position in the league standings. Elfsborg also have 26 points, but they sit in one place higher than Malmo due to the latter’s inferior goal difference.
Malmo’s main problem so far this season has been their unusually dodgy backline that has leaked 17 goals already – most among the top seven teams in the division. They have lost just one of their last five games although that defeat came in their most recent match against which took place last weekend at home against Hacken.
Gefle are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, but it is an extremely misleading piece of statistics. The reality is that they drew all six league games of that sequence and ended an 11-match run without a win last weekend with a 3-0 away win over FC Narva Trans in their Europa League encounter. They last won a league game back in April in the opening month of the ongoing season. As a result of their poor form in the domestic competition, they fully deserve their current 12th-position in this 16-team league.
Out of their two meetings of the 2012 Allsvenskan season, the first one ended in a 0-0 stalemate while the return fixture on Gefle’s ground was claimed 2-0 by Malmo. Gefle are in extremely bad form at the moment, and the upcoming game will be played at Malmo’s turf, which means that they have a distinct advantage in this tie. And therefore, the recommended tip for this game is to back Malmo -1 goal with Pinnacle Sports at odds of 1.62.
