This Friday’s only Ligue 1 game will be played between Lille and Reims at the former’s Stadium Lille Metropole.
Lille currently sit fifth on the league table and are hoping to break into the top five so that they could qualify for next season’s UEFA Europa League. They have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six games, which suggests that they have been in decent form of late. However, they lost 4-2 away to Toulouse last weekend and need to bounce back immediately if they are serious about their European ambitions.
Their opponents, Reims are currently camped in 14th place in the league standings, and it seems that they have secured their position in the French top division for at least one more season. Having said that, they can still be mathematically, and so they can’t afford to relax just yet. For a newly promoted team, their record of late has been quite impressive, with two wins, three draws and just a single loss making up their last half a dozen games. In their last outing, they drew 1-1 at home with Ajaccio despite totally dominating the visitors from start to finish.
Florent Ghisolfi and Diego are out injured Reims, while Lille’s only absentee is Ryan Mendes.
When these two squared off back in December at Reims’ home, the match ended in a 1-1 draw even though Lille enjoyed better ball possession and had more shots at goal. Les Dogues missed several scoring opportunities in that game but expec t their finishers to fare better this time. They may win but the margin of their victory is unlikely to be too wide. Therefore, the play here is to back Reims +1.5 goals with Pinnacle Sports at a return of 1.91.
