The coaches of Lazio and Pescara face a very contrasting turn of events at their respective Serie A clubs.
The Lazio board are keen to tie Vladimir Petković to a long term deal but the Bosnian isn’t too willing to do so. On the other hand, there is little doubt that Cristiano Bergodi will be ousted from Pescara against his wishes, if he fails to keep them in Italy’s top division.
There is a reason for such an opposing employment situation for both the managers. The Biancocelesti are punching above their weight in Serie A this season and a win against Pescara on Monday night will see them overtake Milan into third position.
Pescara, meanwhile, are languishing in 19th position on the league table and are five points behind the safety zone. They have been defeated in five of their last six games.
Lazio too are on a bit of a downturn due to the absence of their star striker Miroslav Klose. Their finishing problems mean that they haven’t won any of their last five games either.
In addition to Klose, they are also missing the services of Cristian Brocchi, Stefano Mauri, Michael Ciani and Marius Stankevicius due to various suspension and injury-related issues.
Hence, their task to break their win drought won’t be easy against Pescara.
The visitor also have a lengthy list of missing players. Damiano Zanon, Manuele Blasi and Vladimir Weiss are the ones serving suspensions and Gaetano D’Agostino, Juan Quintero and Ferdinando Sforzini are out nursing injuries.
Neither of the two sides are at their best currently but Petković has more and better options at his disposal and so the play here is Lazio -1 goal with Bet365 at odds of 1.38.
