This Saturday night’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Fiorentina could see striker Nicolas Anelka make his debut for the Old Lady.
The Turin-based giants took the much-travelled Frenchman on loan from his parent club Shenghai Shenhua late last month with the hope that he could help them maintain or extend their three-point lead at the top of the Serie A table.
Midfielder Claudio Marchisio, who had been nursing a hip injury for the past few weeks, has recovered but is unlikely to be reinstated into the starting line-up straightaway. Instead, manager Antonio Conte is expected to start him from the bench in order to prevent him from aggravating his freshly-healed injury.
But there is still no sign of return for Giorgio Chiellini, Simone Pepe and Nicklas Bendtner, all three of whom have failed to shrug off their respective injury issues.
Fiorentina’s injury list also has three big names on it. Giuseppe Rossi still has one more month before he starts training with his teammates, while Matias Fernandez and Ahmed Hegazy are nursing routine injuries. However, there is one good news for the Viola, as their summer signing Alberto Aquilani’s suspension is over and he will be at coach Vincenzo Montella’s disposal for tomorrow’s game.
Both Juve and Fiorentina have been in disappointing form of late, although they both managed wins in their last Serie A outings, with Conte’s men defeating Chievo 2-1 and the Viola inflicting a 2-0 loss over Parma.
There isn’t much to choose between these two sides based on their recent form. While a bore draw or a close Juve win are the most likeliest of the outcomes, the safe play for this game is to back to Fiorentina +1 goal with Ladbrokes at odds of 1.73.
