India v West Indies preview and betting tips: Men in Blue’s superior batting prowess to be the difference

Review Of India Vs West Indies World Cup Match 2011

Event Date: June 11, 2013 12:00 CET

India and West Indies – two teams who won their opening matches of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy – are set to lock horns in this Group B encounter at the Oval in London.

Not only did these two teams won their openers, but they also were pretty decent in their respective pre-tournament warm-up games. Hence, it wouldn’t be totally inappropriate if one labels them two of the most in-form teams in the competition at the moment.

India made mincemeat of Sri Lanka and Australia in their warm-up before defeating South Africa by 26 runs. Meanwhile, the West Indies lost to Australia but defeated Sri Lanka in their tune-up games before taking advantage of some poor Pakistani batting to clinch two points in their tournament opener.

So far, two games have been played at the Oval in and before the Champions Trophy. Both the games were low-scoring encounters that were decided by the pace bowlers. India arguably have the best batting line-up in the world these days and if anyone can cope with the difficult Oval conditions, it’s them.

While the Windies do possess some hard-hitting, big-name stars in their squad, they don’t have the consistency required to deliver at this level. Therefore, the recommended tip here is to back India for an outright win with Stan James at odds of 1.67.
