DC United v San Jose preview and betting tips: Goal-fest expected at RFK Stadium

Event Date: June 23, 2013 01:00 CET

The 2013 Major League Soccer’s current bottom team D.C. United will attempt to kick-start their season on Sunday when they play host to San Jose Earthquakes at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium.

A brief revival, which saw the DC boys win two and lost just one of their four games, indicated that the worst is over for them. But it turned out to be a false dawn as they dropped last weekend’s game to Toronto FC at home 2-1. Despite taking the lead through Dwayne De Rosario’s strike, United conceded twice in a space of 10 minutes and lost yet another league match.

San Jose aren’t in much better form either but at least they won last week against Colorado Rapids away from home with a scoreline of 2-1. However, that win doesn’t hide the fact that they had gone five match without a win before that – four of which had been losses.

For some reason, games between these two teams are never dull and are full of goals and action. Granted that their collective form isn’t that great, but when two teams of equal strength (or lack thereof) meet, more often than not it results in an exciting and sometimes high-scoring encounter. Therefore, the recommended bet here is to back Stan James’ Over 2.5 goals line at odds of 2.00.
