Chelsea will try to shake off their struggles off late as they take on the suddenly red-hot Reading in Wednesday’s English Premier League clash at Madejski Stadium.
The Blues, who booked draws against Swansea City 0-0 and Brentford 2-2 in the FA Cup, looks to taste again victory, though it would be difficult against an inspired Reading squad.
Reading has been undefeated in the past four games, winning against Crawley Town 3-1 (FA Cup – Round 3), West Bromwich Albion 3-2, Newcastle United 2-1, and Sheffield United 4-0 (FA Cup – Round 4).
Adam Le Fondre has been the main catalyst for Reading during the streak and perhaps throughout the entire season, recording a team-high eight goals. Pavel Pogrebnyak also contributed 5 goals so far while Nick Shorey and Jobi McAnuff each have 4 assists.
On the other hand, Chelsea has been looking for answers in the past two games after failing to record wins against lowly opponents.
Manager Rafael Benitez is calling for a contract extension and that could be a distraction for the Blues.
Nevertheless, Paddy Power pegged Chelsea as the big favourite at 1.50 while Reading is set at 7.00. A deadlock is very much a possibility and it is set at 4.00.
