Brighton and Blackburn, two teams who are camped in seventh and eighth places respectively on the Championship table, are set to play each other this Tuesday at Falmer Stadium.
Blackburn have been in brilliant form of late and have chalked up three consecutive wins in all competitions. The arrival of Michael Appleton at Ewood Park has totally changed the Lancashire-based club’s fortunes and they now look a far more confident side than before.
While the former Blackpool manager’s start at Blackburn wasn’t that great – they lost 2-1 at home to Charlton – but the 37-year-old has very astutely managed to turn things around since then. A draw and three consecutive wins means that Rovers have jumped from 15th to eighth on the league table and are now one of the most in-form sides in the English second division.
Brighton, on the other hand, haven’t been in that good form of late and have just a solitary win to show in their last five games. That single 1-0 victory, which came at home last weekend, was also achieved after a lot of hard work against Hull. All of this proves that the Seagulls aren’t in the best of touch these days and a strong performance from their opponents could break them down quite easily.
Brighton are still missing their Austrian striker Ashley Barnes and therefore, manager Gus Poyet would have to field the pairing of Craig Mackail-Smith and Leonardo Ulloa in attack.
Blackburn are expected to use the same line-up that bested Ipswich recently, albeit the slimmest of margins.
Appleton’s men have the momentum right now and so the pick here is to back Blackburn with Bet365‘s DrawNoBet option at odds of 2.38.
