Real Madrid looks to sustain their winning form and keep within striking distance behind league pace-setter Barcelona and Atletico as they face Valladolid in Saturday’s Spanish La Liga matchup at Santiago Bernabeu.
After seeing his team absorb a shocking 1-0 loss to Betis two weeks ago, Real Madrid manager José Mourinho quickly made some adjustments in its attacks and it so far successfully yielded a couple of solid wins against Alcoyano 3-0 on Nov. 27 and Atletico 2-0 on Dec. 1.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s season hasn’t been stellar so far as he did last season when he recorded 46 goals in league play and 60 goals overall. Still, his 13 goals ranked second in the league behind Lionel Messi’s 21.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid has never lacked the talent to dominate a game at will. Boasting a solid attacking unit of Ronaldo, Gonzalo Haguin and Karim Benzema and top goaltender in Iker Casillas, Real Madrid certainly have all the time in the world to turn things around.
But then again, the pitfalls of overconfidence and laxity could also be deadly this time around for the La Liga powerhouse, just like what happened to them against Betis.
On Saturday, Real Madrid will be taking on a squad that lacks starpower but never the heart to fight. Though Real Valladolid dropped two of their last three games – including a 3-0 pummeling to Betis, Pucela is very much capable of breaking more hearts at Bernabeu.
Saturday’s match between Madrid and Valladolid could be ‘real’ dandy. Madrid might have a full repertoire of talents but Valladolid can counter with solid defense and all-out aggression.
Bet365 sees Valladolid as a heavy underdog, offering the ball club at 12.00. Meanwhile, a Real Madrid win is pegged at 1.25 while a draw is at 5.50.
